The Group
We are an interdisciplinary group working at the interface of engineering, material science, chemistry, and physics. We aim to understand and optimize electronic, ionic, and thermal transport in electronic, photonic, and electrochemical systems. We study commercial technologies such as lithium ion batteries and quantum dot displays as well as bottom-up engineered semiconductors and metals for next generation devices. We apply advanced characterization techniques to quantify structure from the atomistic to macroscale and determine how structure influences material and end-device performance. Guided by simulations, we develop design guidelines and explore how new materials and device architectures can be manufactured at scale.
