Congrats to now Dr. Yunhua Xing for the successful defense of her PhD thesis, titled: Density Functional Theory Parameterized Multiscale Modelling on Properties and Electronic Transport in Metal Chalcogenide Nanocrystals and Nanocrystal Solids.

We just solved the mystery of I-III-VI quantum dots! Turns out, copper atoms and cationic vacancies pair up to efficiently emit light. Plus, a hidden order of vacancies boosts photoluminescence even further.

Congratulations to Dr. Rajalakshmi Arumugam for successfully defending her PhD: Impact of Ni Oxidation States on the Properties of Ni-Mn-Co-based Cathode Materials for Lithium-Ion Batteries.

Our recent paper sheds light on the microscopic origin of electron–phonon coupling in lead halide perovskites, a key factor behind their unique optoelectronic properties. By tracking structural changes after photoexcitation, our study identifies lattice tilting as a primary pathway for coupling between electronic excitations and vibrational modes.
